“Dr. Michèle Pierre-Louis, Sean Penn, and Lieutenant General Ken Keen joined moderator Professor Mary Jo Bane for a discussion on rebuilding Haiti three years after the devastating earthquake. The speakers addressed topics ranging from government involvement in reconstruction to the importance of foreign investment and security. From the debris of Haiti’s devastating earthquake, organizations and individuals unearth innovative ways to rebuild a more stable and sustainable society.

The film, a collaboration between Fountainhead Transmedia and New York University’s Schack Institute of Real Estate explores the process of reconstructing schools, orphanages, housing, and infrastructure developments in Haiti.

Mission: To inspire people to lend a hand to disadvantaged communities both at home and abroad.

Book: The Haiti Experiment by Hugh Locke

Hugh Locke, Co-Founder and Former President of Yéle Haiti has written a book entitled “The Haiti Experiment”.  In 2005, he co-founded Yéle Haiti with musician Wyclef Jean and music producer Jerry “Wonda” Duplessis.  Check out the video and book description below for more info.

Leopard Capital Raises $20M to Invest in Haiti’s Private Sector

Leopard Capital is pleased to announce the successful initial closing of Leopard Haiti Fund (LHF). LHF is the world’s first private equity fund to operate and focus exclusively on Haiti since the 2010 earthquake.

The fund seeks to raise USD 40 to 75 million to invest in businesses in Haiti. The first USD 20 million of this target has now been committed by three international development banks:

Leopard Capital will now commence LHF’s investment activities while continuing to approach investors globally and locally to increase the size of the fund. Leopard Capital is concurrently raising a donor-funded technical assistance facility to finance capacity development initiatives within LHF’s portfolio companies.
